Wood selection and woodburned details bring this favorite fall character to life

Scarecrows remind me of late summer and the fall harvest. I made this cute little character as an homage to the scattered figures decorating gardens and cornfields across the country.

I bought a bunch of intarsia books at Alan's S&D Sale as I really would like to give it a go. With what I've read in the books and on this board, I think I'm ready to jump in....with something simple. The scarecrow looks like a wonderful pattern, but it looks a bit hard for an intarsia beginner. After reading the article, however, I thought the instructions and illustrations were well laid out, and I like the thorough "materials and tools" indexes offered in all of the magazine's projects. This is particularly helpful when considering wood species for intarsia, IMO.

Only just got my turn with this issue. A minor point perhaps but why say that the additional 'online bonus' photos are on:- woodcarvingillustrated.com ? they are of course on this address. Regards, Bob H.
