Cut these today. Will finish sand and ad googly eyes to them tomorrow.
I also cut 15 hugs, 12 ginger bread men and 6 ornaments but my camera battery died..I'll have more pics this weekend.

Those are adorable puzzles Mike, and I like the idea of the googly eyes, but do you glue them in so the little ones can't swallow them?

Those are great looking puzzles. You're making me start to think about making them again.

Thank you everyone for the kind words....The googly eyes I use a forstner bit to inset the eyes below the wood surface and glue them so they can't be picked off the puzzle.

Those are great.
For what it is worth - and I think it is at least of worthy mention - is a conversation I had with a physical therapist friend who works with young children. I told her of the wooden toys I was making this year and she could not stop going on and on and on and on about how wonderfully healthy it was for the children to hold, touch and chew on wooden toys. She said particularly having the "wood" texture on their lips and tongue gave them enhanced stimuli that most kids are not getting now a days because of the sheer number of plastic toys that are out there - and which dominate nearly 95% of all toys sold. When children don't get to learn the different "types" of material (wood, metal, plastic) their brain misses a developmental milestone about differentiating between objects. The mouth and tongue muscles don't develop as fully when they don't 'feel' different materials in their mouths.

So, not only do the children in your life get the bonus of a woodworker in the family . . . . . .they will actually develop into more full and healthy human beings.

Good Job, Mike!!!

John

Some of what does not sell next weekend I will donate to the local S.A.F.E house along with some cars and trucks. This is my 3rd year giving to this organization. The looks on their faces makes my entire Christmas very special.
