I am gluing a project that needs to lay flat while it dries. Any ideas what I can lay it on?

Use a layer of wax paper on top of your work bench, or on the floor, or on top of your table saw...

I got a slab of granit counter top at our local thrift shop for $10 It is a perfect assembly area I have it on top of a rolling cabinet I built. Easy to clean and scrape old glue off. It is only about 2ft x 2ft.

That piece of granite counter top, or even a piece of granite tile, will make a great surface to lay a piece of sand paper on to sharpen a chisel or plane blade.

My granit work station with a work in progress. I put a shelf on the side for my Xyron. Also notice the overhang that is to give some room to clamp stuff

I just use a 1/4" piece of scrap plywood. I have a number of sizes for different sied projects. Cheap and when if too much glue gets on it i toss it.

The Xyron unit is for putting adhesive on to patterns. If you use the REPOSITIONABLE roll, you can run the patterns thru the unit. You can buy the unit either on the internet or use one of those 50% off coupons at Michael's, AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, or JoAnne Fabrics. When I bought mine a few years ago, it was cheaper to buy from the internet and then use those coupons (on an ongoing basis) to purchase the refill cartridges.
