Default CBC Plaque

G'day all,
This is the third in a series of plaques I've been commissioned to make for the local Catholic High School.
So far the pattern and mock up have been completed.

This is the banner I had to take the pattern of it's 60mm x70mm
CBC Original sml.jpg

The pattern

The Mock up. Jarrah inlaid Cross and Pine inlay in Jarrah border for the banner.
Will attach that with 2 brass chain links.
CBC test.jpg

The 2nd one is cut and polished. Just putting the felt on the backer at the moment.
Will post completed pics as soon as it's done.

Here is the thread to the previous post. One Down

Nice job as usual John.

John can you tell me about Jarrah. Is it a hardwood? Do you know what it would compare with here in the U.S. I have tried some internet searches on it but there is not a lot of info on it. I found a company that carries it locally but only small pieces for pen blanks and such. I see a lot of people from Oz use it for all sorts of things so it got me wondering about it.

Thanks all, just hope the finished thing looks something like the mockup

Tim, Jarrah is sometimes called Australian Mahogany by those that don't know eg the Eastern Staters and other countries.

It's pretty rare in other parts of the world as the only forests are in the South West Cnr of WA, but I do know of blokes that ship containers of 2nd hand timber to the US.

I think Lou, from the intarsia section sources some.

Lookin good! You have a knack for taking something simple and making it really pop when you convert it to wood. I'll stay tuned to see this one progress.
