Starting a new cutting. My brother and I are fans of a Heavy Metal group called "Metallica". It will be 2 feet tall by just under 4 feet wide. I use roller stands for oversized pics like this. Stack cutting 3 of them. The wood is Luan. I'm actually using the side not meant to be used because it is less fiberous and less likely to splinter, etc. Just counted...477 cuts to be made.

I am a big fan also. Can't wait to see the end result. How do you apply the pattern on such a large piece ?

I use carbon paper to get them on the wood. I make my patterns on paper. I scan them onto my computer at 300 dpi (dots per inch) on the scanner. So they are already large. Then I divide them into sections and print them out. Then I tape all of them together for one large pattern. Hope that makes sense.
When I have a very detailed photo, sometimes I will even print it out in sections to get more detail....therefore making a bigger finished pattern. I did that with The Last Supper and Dale Earnhardt Jr's car.

Very ambitious project there Mr. Master Designer.
I would assume you are cutting with spirals due to the size of the piece.
Sawing is much cheaper than therapy.
