Here are a couple of pics of my newest intarsia commission. It is for a wedding present. The box is 6"x 8" and uses 45 pieces from 10 different woods. Still have to apply a couple more coats of finish and install the hinges and the inside linings. ![]() |

Beautiful work as always Mike. Is the background sky wood tulip wood? Works great of a sunset sky.

Beautiful piece of real estate that you have captured very well. I'm sure this will be treasured for a long time.

Thanks everyone for the comments. This was a fun project. Very challenging because of all the small pieces.( Thank goodness for 3 power jewelers goggles.) Here is a list of the woods used--Box and foreground-Black Walnut, Rope and white on lighthouse and seagulls-Holly, sky- Tulipwood, Black on lighthouse-ebony, Lighthouse light and boat-Pau Amerillo, Water-Blue Mahoe, Weeds-Lignum Vitae, Sand-Persimmon, Fence posts-Jatoba, Grey part of pedestal-Ambrosia Maple, Red of pedestal-Bubinga. |
