Default It's Willie

Here is a cutting of Charlie Dearing's Willie pattern to be given as a gift to my wife's aunt. I cut it with Olson 2/0 spirals and 2Rs. I didn't think to get pics while cutting (didn't want to break the concentration I had going) but I have is shown here after giving it two coats of Danish Oil. After the oil is dry, I will spray it with Deft and then mount it on a gold colored mirror. The wood is cherry. I will post more pics as I go from here.

G'day Andy,
A great cutting mate. I to have saved that pattern from Charlie and it is on my todo list.
Am looking forward to seeing it on a mirror, as that is one of things that I have had kicking about in the back of my mind.
Better to let you do it and I'll learn from your mistakes

Looking good, I tried to do Charlie's patterns but I need to get my skill level up before I attempt it again.

What thickness wood did you use?

Thanks for the comments.

I forgot to add to my post that when I cut this one I also put a piece of BB behind it for support. When I took the two of them apart the BB was cut just as good as the cherry wood piece. Anyone have any ideas as to what I could do with it? I thought maybe I would offer it to anyone that might want it but have no idea who would want it.

John,
I have done several projects mounted on gold colored mirror and they all turned out pretty well. Sometimes you just need to jump right on in and go for it.

It is cut on 3/8" thick wood.

Nice cutting Andy, waiting to see it finished with the gold mirror backing.
