Default Spaniel Update

Figured I'd post an update since I finally got the cutting finished this afternoon. The "green" shot is after pulling the pattern off and the other shot just has some red paper underneath for contrast. It will be mounted to a chocolate colored backer to more closely match a certain dog I know. (Have to mix the paint tonight)

I learned the need to tape parts back in as I was making the last couple of cuts. Near the top of the head there is a rather long "free" piece that was making me sweat blood for a few minutes. I kept taping everything back together until I had several llayers of tape holding everything sort of stable.
(And at times, I felt like I was cutting a puzzle, the way the cuts were twisting around)

Next time, not all the cut pieces will head for the burn bucket.

This was cut with a #2 skip and I even taped the back in an attempt to defeat the fuzzies. To a large extent, it worked, but next time I'm taking JigSue's hint of using cereal box cardboard on the back side.

After I get it all done and framed, I'll post something in the Bragging section.

Again, to JediScroller, thanks for a pattern that was fun enough and just challenging enough.

Jim, you have done an outstanding job with this cutting!
A chocolate backing will be perfect to bring this beauty to life.

Fantastic!

That looks terrific Jim! I can't wait to see it with the color matched backer.

Kelly,
If you look at my join date (June 08), you can figure out I'm pretty much a newbie myself. Sure, I had an old Delta for a couple of years, but I only pulled it out to cut stuff for Cub Scouts or just playing around for a day or so at a time.

This spring, while looking for work, I took some time, some 3/4" X 6 aspen and made picture frames for some high school graduations that were made to look like 2008, with the numbers scrunched together. Trying to find an easier way to do it, I stumbled across this forum and began to learn and listen. I found out it wan't normal to break nearly as many blades as I was doing, it also wan't normal to be spending nearly the amount of time on fixing my saw as I did and many other things.

You've done a great job on the cuttings I've clicked. The only way to get better and gain confidence is tackle someting that looks hard--but not too hard!

Default Finally mounted

After looking for a while for a suitable frame, I was walking through Wal-Mart the other night and spied this one. I think it matches pretty well, but I'm prejudiced. Actually, most of my photographs from 30+ years of serious photography are unframed because I hate trying to match frames to pics.

Thanks again to Kevin for a great pattern and to all those who offered support during the process.
