| Well, I heard back from the artist. Here is the response in their words: Hi...Because I get special contract agreements from my models and in order to protect the interests of my collectors who purchase the originals and prints ....I am not able to give you permission to use my art. PERMISSION DENIED... Oh well, we tried right? Thanks for the moral support |

| Charlie that sound like a "Cooperate" answer rather than a personal answer. You know something like a computer would say..... But I see their view point too. Wish you could have gotten permission, I would have liked to try that cutting.

| Since Native American women in art and photos is rare, I would have loved to be able to provide that pattern. I even offered the artist a cutting of themself and of the Indian Woman. No dice...... |

| You may not sell it but then if I could do as good a job as you are doing with both pattern and cutting it would be going on my wall.

| Charlie,
Since you can't sell the pattern or the cutting, feel free to send it to me as a gift

| Charlie, what's the problem?
Take your own photos.
The initial cost would probablly be a bit more for a lawyer to write a standard contract and then just go to model schools and post an ad. Many would do it just so they can put it on their resume.
The cheaper route would be to use your friends. Because you're going to make templates out of the pictures I don't think the model needs to be Native American; so you can even use your blond / blue eyed friend, you know the one - with the high cheek bones (don't forget to pay her $1 for her services).
Take a look at this link: Alex Ross Art
My favorite comic book artist Alex Ross. He often uses picture refrences to create magnificent paintings.
