Default Tiger Plaques

This is an adaptation of the carved fretwork tiger pattern in SSWC Fall 2008. I am not going to carve, but will cut the overlay and black backer board along the same lines as the edge of router background on the pattern and then mount the whole thing on an 8 X 8" 3/4" oak backer.

This photo is the fretwork with two coats of orange (amber) shellac applied (320 sanding in between). Next, it will get a coat or two of gloss or satin laquer, glued to the black backer and then onto the oak.

The article suggest spirals and that probably would have been easier, but I was out of spirals, so I stack cut it with a #2 Ultra-Reverse in 1/4 ply--also since I didn't have a sufficient sized plank of maple around.

One of these will go to a teacher who really worked with my kids all through middle school and the other into the concession stand that the band boosters operate as a fund raiser.

Updates as I get it done--hopefully today
