Well, the mountains have been shaped. They are not rough and tough like Dick suggested and both my wife and mother-in-law wanted. I just couldn't do it on this one.

Ok, so this will be the end of the work in progress unless I get some good feedback from all of you and I need to change something.

I have just a little clean up of dust and wood chips to take care of. Then a background and a nice dark frame.

So what do you all think?

Tom

This is the reason i like this site, so many new ways of doing things!
This is the reason i hate this site,so new many ways of doing things!
Joking aside, I was quite comfortable doing Intarsia. But seeing the great ideas and how it is done here is pulling me to try new things.
Tom, this is a good example of how you guys are changing what a scroll saw can be used for. And it looks real good. well done.
PS. Maybe try and get her to sand that part because you can't quite see what she means. I tried that and got a smack upside the head, but I tried.

LOL Alan, I don't want a smack upside the head. That's exactly what I'd get to...

Ok ok, just one more update for you before I get to the finished product.

I made the frame and it is just sitting on the piece here. Since the picture, the frame has gotten finished with spray poly, it is done. I will give the carved piece a soak in 50/50 Danish Oil and Mineral Spirits.

Course I need to attach the baker board and put a hanger on it also.

Looks AWESOME! What is the thickness of your material?

Well I started with 4/4 basswood. The plane and cars are still basically original thickness. Probably the thinest part is around the edges and it is down to about 5/16.

Thanks for the nice compliment. I dunked it for 10 minutes tonight in 3 parts Danish Oil and 2 part mineral spirits.
