here's one of the two cutting boards that I working on...



I was going to start the second one but the plywood I bought wasn't the greatest so I need to go shopping for another piece...
my sucker job I called it, I might be the one getting suckered on this one.
they gave me $60 to take on the job, I've got $30 into it now and if I get another piece of wood that will be another $10. if they both turn out this nice and fit in there holes I might get a few more dollars out of it...

I probably sanded more on this cutting board than I did on my last 2 projects...
I thought I was going to call this one done. I sealed the ends with wood sealer and oiled the front and back with mineral oil but after reading the bottle, it say's to wipe down the board with oil everyday for a week...

I did get my poplar planed down from 3/4 to 1/8 for my rose heart project..



the pattern is ready to go except for the lettering
I don't have pristina font in my computer and I don't like what I do have so I need to wait until Mrs.Trout gets me the font...

I'm temped to start cutting and add the lettering in later...

Cutting boards are tough. I made a set that fit into our sink and they looked good for the first week. Then it became apparent that I did not watch the end grain and rotate the grain for each other board and now it's warped... darnit.

Trout, I would suggest you wait until you get your letters placed before you begin cutting the rose heart, just in case you need to adjust some of the frets a bit. The way I did the letters was find the font, and printed out the names and date, then cut the letters apart from each other and spaced them, taping them in place on the original pattern. Once satisfied, I scanned that and printed out the pattern so I was working with just one sheet of paper.
Oh, the cutting board looks ok, but definatly not what I would have chosen for material.Ply is just way to soft to be functional for very long as a cutting board.Dale

I was going to trace the letters with my light box but I like your way....

as for the cutting boards, these slide in slots in a old style kitchen cabinet and there identical to the ones that were in there...they belong to an older couple and the old man just kept nailing on the oak strip when it fell off, there were 8 nails and one screw holding one of them on...

if they would of wanted anything fancier I would of passed on the job...
