I am getting ready to vend at a Folk Festival, so my shop is awash in Limberjacks. This is a very good scroll saw project and they sell well. If you play with one at your booth it is guaranteed to draw a crowd. For all you ever wanted to know about Limberjacks and plans for them go to: http://chrisbrady.itgo.com/jigdolls/jigdolls.htm Hope you will give Limberjacks a try. Dave www.harmonycraft.etsy.com |

Those are quite interesting. I have not seen any since I was a child. Val Knight gives the best demonstration. What price can you command for these, and do you demonstrate to music?

Oh Dave those are wonderful. I bought one years ago but never worked with it enough to get "good". They are fun!

Mike, I sell a simple Limberjack for $30. If I add anything to it, I raise the price accordingly. Music is not a good idea when you are in a cluster of venders. But the sound of the wooden feet on the dance board will get attention. Dave |

Dave -- Love your limberjacks. There are a lot of those old folk art toys that are really fun. I've been making them for a lot of kids for years.

Jim, Thank you for your kind words. Would like see some pictures of your limberjacks. Most people cut two slots in the bottom of the body to mount the legs, that is the Appalachian way. I prefer the French Canadian way of mounting the top of the leg on the side of a tapered body, think it gives the doll a more streamline look. Always looking for new ideas, if any of you limberjack makers would like to share pictures. Dave |

I do not mean this to sound negative about your pricing or anything but, I am just surprised that in this age of technology where you can't find a teen-ager or young adult without a cell phone attached to their ear that Limberjacks are good sellers. I'd have never imagined that at all! Like I said, I'm not doubting you or anything, just expressing my surprise. Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse |

Spirithorse, My best customers are not young folks, but parents with small children, Grandmas, clog and contra dancers. People who come to folk festivals are looking for the old style toys. How can you beat the combination of a great toy and a musical instrument? Dave |
