Wow, John, you're a machine, (thankfully not a computer guided one). They look simply stupendous...

Thank you all, I needed it. It really is struggle for me to keep on track when doing this amount.
The cutting is rather fun, but from there on it goes down hill quickly and hits rock bottom when it comes to fitting the wheels.

Mike and Sally..............and other interested.
I started out making these a few years ago and originally just made up about three names and took orders for others.
That however, was pretty slow work, cutting 1 of this letter 5 of that, three of the next and then because they where for both Boys and Girls changing paint colours continuously etc etc.

So after the first batch, Reckoned what I'd do is, when I got an order, I'd cut a few extra of each letter.

When I figured I had almost enough letters to take along to the markets, I checked out the sheets of alphabet stickers to see how many of each letter they included. Then worked in multiples from there.

I took a box of letters along to the markets and made about 5 trains before we'd run out of various letters so took orders for the others.

Over the few years that I've been doing these, I've come to a pretty fair assessment of what I need to take, we do still occasionally run out of a letter, or more to the point a letter in either a Boys or Girls colour and the customer wants the one we haven't got.

This is my stock sheet that I complete at the end of each Market. I also take a box of about 50 extras.

Yikes! Not that's some serious production work for a one man show. I find your stock sheet to be an excellent idea. I just don't know that I could make that many wheels and maintain my sanity

Great work and thanks for the inspiration. BTW the sliding miter attachment on tablesaw looks sweet too!

Thanks for sharing

I WAITED patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry.
He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay,
And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.
He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;
Many will see and fear
And will trust in the Lord.

Beautiful work as usual John, but you are not built the same way as the rest of us. They would have to put me in a padded cell about half-way through the job.

Great work, but Mike's question is one that has been running through my mind for a long time.

You certainly have been a busy boy!

SNIP
Kip, I've been called Billy but not often Silly LOL. I used to make my own wheels, but I buy them now as they are only cents each.

If I still made my own George would be right, the men in white coats would have come to take me away ages ago

Kev, When you mentioned your initial stock of Chrisy Ornaments, I reckoned we'd both meet in the same padded cell.

I usually only have to replenish about 50 letters a month, but the last markets was a bumper one and with the Spring Festival coming up..............
