Default puzzle painting

Hi all-- I was wondering if anyone can tell me where to get a hi gloss ( non toxic ) paint if such a thing is around. Reason I ask is, on the puzzle page I have read where the person says to use non toxic paint , and they say they use high gloss as it saves them a step ( no varathane ). I went to our paint dealer and they said no chance . Then told me to try a hobby store. All I have found in the hobby store and the dollar store are acrylics. Thanks. Wayne.

G'day Wayne,
I use semi gloss acrylic, two coats, cut back with 320 paper between coats, then spray a high gloss lacquer over the whole puzzle. It gives a great gloss finish and also adds an extra coat of protection.
Some my puzzles have been in use by a local kindergarten for over 10 years and still look almost as good as the day they were made.

Thank you John.-- Now I know there is something out there , other than the flat colours I use. Now all I have to do is find them . Thanks again.

G'day Wayne,
I use acrylic household paints, I do use a lot. You may be able to obtain small sample pots of whatever colour you like if you only need a small amount.
