I have to agree about bleaching basswood. *It is easy and gives a unique appearance. *I have bleached polar bears and plan to bleach more things. *The first time I saw carvings with this technique was at the Carving Rendezvous in Branson, 5-6 years ago. *I bought the bleach after seeing it, but didnt' get around to using it till last summer. *This was after experiencing its use in a Debbe Edward's class on a polar bear. *I wondered why I had waited so long to use it! This sounds like a great idea. I'll put in our suggestions box/list to be considered for a future article. Thanks for the input! |

Go to the paint/stain sectin of your local home center and look for wood bleach. Comes in two parts. Follow direcitons. Works good.

Thanks. I will do that. I've been told it makes a better white than white paint. I will give it a try.
