Question Gluing oily wood

Not precisely a finishing question .. O.K., I just got a knife kit for my son-in-law's Christmas present. The handle is good looking wood, but I have a piece of Cocobolo (my problems with Cocobolo are probably legend on the forum!) that I would like to use as a butt cap.

What to use? Will epoxy fasten it securely, or will the oils in the wood cause poor joint strength? Waterproof wood glue?

Would a coat of shellac be necessary to seal the wood and allow good glue-up?

Thanks for any suggestions you may be able to offer.

Can you use a mortise tenon fit and use a dowel? If so that would be my first choice...

Actually, no. I don't know what that is, even.
I had thought of making some pins out of bamboo chopsticks, but the question of "which glue?" still remains.
I appreciate the suggestions.

Titebond II should be fine. If the wood is oily, wipe it down good with lacquer thinner or denatured alcohol and allow that to evaporate good before applying your glue.

Acetone is usually used to wipe oily woods like teak before putting a finish on them. It would probably work as well for titebond III.

Thanks to lucky788scroller and sawdustus.

I am planning to make my daughter a coffee table from a tree that was cut down from our front yard [for the top]. I want to edge this top and make legs out of some teak that I have been saving and would be gluing the edging to the top as well as gluing the leg components together.

I was concerned about gluing the teak [oil in the wood] so I am happy to get some recommendations.
