Default BLO/Paint thinner

Any reason I can't use Paint thinner to cut BLO? I have a gallon of non-flamable paint thinner that states it is for cutting any oil based product with varnish being 1 of the products listed.

Second. I have clear storsge containers with a spout on the bottom. Can you see any reasn I can't store unused prduct in them?

I have found that plastic still allows air in as it is semi-porous. I have had left overs gel in plastic...

I'm not sure about question 1 but I would think it would be fine...

I use a mix of mineral spirits, BLO and polyurethane and sooner or later no matter what kind of container that I store it in...it will go bad.

So my answer to this problem is just mix what I need and then store the left overs with the hope that it might still be good when I need it again.

Scott, I use paint thinner to thin or clean up after using oil base products. Thinner is less expensive than mineral spirits, it may have a somewhat stronger odor than mineral spirits.

mineral spirits and paint thinner can be interchanged as far as I have ever known. My one gallon of paint thinner also says (mineral spirits) right on the can.
