What do most of you use for the backing plate. Do you use felt or paint? If you paint do you use flat, semi gloss or gloss paint. I like the look of felt but it's hard to clean dust and stuff off of when they hang a while. Opinions? Scott in Round Rock Texas

I use both depending on the project. For "nice" stuff like portraits, etc, I use felt. Actually, Easy Felt that I get from Michaels which is a stiff card type felt. For other smaller cutouts, I use 1/8" plywood painted flat black. I also prefer not to use glass, but again, it depends on the project amd what I think is best for each one. Ray

I use both depends on the effect I'm looking for. I don't use glass in my frames.

Hey, Scott, I guess it is your choice ! You have some good suggestions here. I like the felt & I have also done the flat black paint & foam too. You choose what you like. Perk

I use black matte paint on MDF. I rarely use glass for portraits, wood is a touchy/feely thing for me Sue |
