Default Small Sanding Sticks

I recently solved a sanding problem that I thought I would share.

I wanted to reach into a small space about 1/4 inch to sand.

I used a wooden coffee stir stick, courtesy of Second Cup, and glued a strip of 180 grit using wood glue and pressed using my vice. In fact, I glued four pieces, two to each end.

These are stiff enough to allow good control and did a great job for me.

I also use these stir sticks to spread glue in a narrow groove, for thin shims and to stir small containers of varnish. They are even good for coffee!

I hope this is of use to others.

I have a tip also, how to get the burn marks out of the inside fret cuts. I use a #2 spiral blade, and the saw turned down real slow. I use the blade like a rasp to take the burns out of the wood.

Don't forget emery boards from the cosmetics section. You can trim them to any width you need and sand away.

I also use the spatulas for clay modeling and puttying with PSA paper on them with 120 to 220 grit.Tony

Emory boards also clamp quite nicely right in your saw....Nice tips one and all. Thanks for sharing.
