Default Water Seal

Hi guys and gals,

Recently I replaced the wood on an outdoor glider. I put two coats of water sealer on the wood and let it dry for a couple of days before I assembled the glider. Now, about a month later, I noticed that the wood is turning black. I used what I thought was dry wood. However, could the black staining be trapped moisture? I'm assuming it was okay to put the sealer on bare wood, or should I have stained it first? I didn't see anything on the can of sealer stating that it shouldn't be put on bare wood.

Thanks for any comments you would care to make.

El

Sounds like it may be trapped moisture or even mold...Can you share some pics?

Sorry, Mike. I don't have any pics. Wouldn't know how to get them here anyway.

I think I'll just redo the whole thing next spring.

Thanks for your response though.

I had some sealer I put on some projects that peeled off after a short time and I had to redo all of them with a different product.I don't know what could have been the problem, the sealer was only about 30 yo.Someone said the only place for any paint product that old was a museum.Tony
