Default Magnetic paint

Hello scrollers
I am looking for some information about magnetic paint.
I purchased a can, and painted a piece of wood per mfg instructions.
It works fine. I can place a magnet on the painted surface and it will hold the magnet, but I wanted to have a cut off piece of the painted surface hold on to the other piece of painted surface.
My way of thinking is, if magnets "stick" to each other then why doesn't two pieces of painted (magnetic paint used) surfaces do the same?
It just doesn't hold. Anyone with some insight about this situation?
Thanks

Default "magnetic" paint

WD,

The paint itself is not magnetic, but is capable of being attracted to a magnet (just like the front door of your refrigerator is not magnetic, but a magnet will stick to it, because the door contains iron (steel)). The paint contains microscopic iron particles which will respond to a magnet.

If you want two wooden surfaces to "stick together" by magnets, just google for "rare earth magnet" (without "") - you can find some really small ones which you can embed in the wood and should be sufficiently powerful.

Wood dog:

Lee Valley sell small magnets to be embedded into wood. You can check them and their prices out on line. Lee Valley are very reliable.
