G'day all, I had a query about my spray booth set up. Can't find the exact post right now, so will try and cover all. The right wall is hinged to rear wall of the shed allowing it to be swung back out of the way for larger pieces. The original idea was to have it swing back against the back of the booth when not in use. The shelf is sat on a 2" x 2" batten at each end with a loose dowel for locking it in place. This can be removed whenever large pieces need finishing. The turn table is just a disk of 18mm chipboard, with 4 casters fitted, a bolt through the centre that locates in a hole in the shelf. This can be removed easily.

John, do you have any problems with the motor on the exhaust fan gumming up from the over spray? Do you have a dust cover over the top of the booth? Or is falling dust not a problem? Nice booth by the way.

G'day Mike, The fans give out about every 18mths to 2 years, but they are only around $20.00 each so it's no biggie. When the day finally comes that I can extend the shed a bit, I intend to build a booth with 2 or three fans in the top and ducted to the wall. I will also have a door on the new one so that it will be almost dust free. But that's on the WA plan at the moment. Don't have much of a problem with dust. I tend to blow everything down and then go over the place with the extractor before I spray. I also let things settle for awhile before starting, and use water based paints and lacquers that dry pretty fast. Oh, no cover mate.

G'day Joe, Some of the lacquers are a bit flammable. I asked a few questions years ago about fans and the common consensus was that the exhaust fans I use are pretty good, as they don't spark, and that as cooking oils are flammable, they would be designed to be pretty safe. I'm not recommending them over the correct type of fans, but beggars can't be choosers. Just keep your eye on Google Earth and if you see a big crater where Kal. used to be, you'll know that I was wrong LOL Jim,

My spray booth is a cardboard box setting on an old card table out side my shop. When it's not raining. Needless to say that is why most of my stuff is finished by brush..

G'day Rick, It sure makes a difference, just doing your finishing in the one spot. Before I built it, I'd just finish on my bench or floor and the over spray would go everywhere. My shed is lined and the Booth built from coversheets, 16 and 18mm chippy. If you have a supplier nearby you maybe able to pick these up for a few bucks a piece. I think the most I paid for one sheet was $5.00 and that was MDF.
