|  Cedar and water based finishes. I mostly use water based stains and paint. The only varnish I have used is oil based Spar Varnish because it cures so hard and protects the project. Anyway as I was buying paint the other day I was told that you can not use water based finishes on Western Red Cedar. The water base pulls the tannin out of the cedar and gives you a yellow result. Which explains why white on cedar just did not work for me. Hope this info helps somebody. Alan. |
