Default Learn How To Do Patinated Finishes...

Generally, patinated finishes are done with caustic chemicals on various metals to create beautiful decorative finishes.

I preferred not to use those chemicals, so I used colored glaxzes to create my own "patinated finishes.

This article appeared in the Custom Woodworking Business magazine and on their web site.

Default Close up of 3 patinated finishes..

The photo shows a close up of the patinated finishes, to appreciate the work that goes into these finishes I think the close up will show the details better.

Default Patinated finishes...

Hi Jayne,

You might want to try it with a "silver acrylic bronzing lacquer" as your base coat, and then spray a coat or two of clear acrylic coating.

I think you will like the background as you add your colors, by the way, washes can also be used to add color.

Good luck

thanks again...I am used to doing patination on metals so I am looking forward to duplicating some of them on the wood surfaces...without the chemicals and the rubber masks etc.....especially when the weather has been above 30 for most of the week......Jayne

Default Chemical patinated finishes...

Jayne,

I would like to see some of your chemical patinated finishes.

Do you have any posted on your web site, or could you post a few on this forum.

I think that others would enjoy seeing them, and what can be done with the chemicals.. There are some here that do work with metals.

Thanks
