That looks a little like some kind of maple to me. Though I'm not good at identifying them from leafs.

It looks a little like maple. I can't get to the heart wood to see but here are a couple pictures of a piece of a limb I cut the bark off of. My neighbor said he may cut down his tree and give me some of the wood if some of the limbs don't stop growing out and causing the crotch to crack. He's worried that it will fall on the his fence and his neighbor's storage shed.

That looks a lot like what we call a "Water maple". The things grow like wildfire and send roots everywhere looking for water. They are prone to limbs breaking off and splitting the trunk due to sheer weight of the limbs.

uuuhhh... looks like it came from a wooden tree... definately a type of maple. you can probably find a web site for your state that will tell you which species of maple grow around you. something like a natural resourses thing for your state.

I was being kinda sarcastic in a way, I use to be a landscaper. What I meant by what I said was that I have trouble identifying the particular breed of each ie. yellow cedar versus red.

I think it may be either water maple or silver maple. I looked around and found an online tree test that said it was silver maple.

Thanks for the help. PS. Does anyone know how long it takes to kiln dry lumber?

I also think it's silver maple. I just planted a bunch in the back of my yard this year and the leaves are the same as in your picture. Silver maple is also called river maple, swamp maple water maple or white maple.
