Default Laws regarding growing trees

Does anyone know if it is legal to import trees from other countrys and continents and grow them on American soil? If it is, I was planning on importing trees like bloodwood, purpleheart, lacewood, ect and growing them until their full sized. Then I want to cut them down and have them turned into boards. Finally I would plant new trees in their place and start over again. I would like to plant them over 100 acres of land and plant some pine or cedar between them so that when I cut them down the land doesn't look so bare. Of course I would wait until I get out of collage and become a doctor to try this.

What do you think of this idea?

hmm. it really does depend on where you live- not all trees will grow in all climates/soil types/terrains.

since it will take 20 to 40 years to grow. I'll probably just plant them the second time to make the land unique and beautiful. As for the climate. it rarely gets below 10 degrees and rarely gets above 105. we get regular rains and it snows once or twice a year but it has not stayed on the ground without melting really quickly in about 5 years.

Arron,
I would check at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden or Dallas Arboretum before planting trees. Some trees may survive 10 or even 20 years before dying from the weather of North Centeral Texas. The species you are wanting to plant are mainly tropical and wouldn't last more than 1 or 2 years. The county extension agent is another good source of info.

I think it most likely is illegal, it is illegal for fauna, so I imagine flora would be the same. Best check with your Dept.of Natural resources.

Must be really tough snow if it takes 5 years to melt.

Probably not a good Idea. That's how kudzu got tho this country. Granted it is a vine and we're discussing trees--but with no natural competition it is probably banned.

Ok I'll ask the department of natural resources before I do anything. I'll also pick trees that are better suited for the climate around here. If they do say its illegal to plant foreign trees, I'll plant some domestic trees like cherry, oak, and walnut.

Thanks for the help.

PS. Sorry about the typo. I meant to say that the snow around here melts in a few hours and it hasent piled up in 5 years.
