Default Where to order wood

Before Kevin posted about his BORG ordeal, I was thinking of "branching out" and trying to order some nicer wood for making box's. I seem to be having trouble finding many suppliers unless I want to resaw (with what??...soon I hope)... Can ya'll e-mail me your suggestions to leecowanjerry@hotmail.com

My PM is almost full and I have a tendecy to procrastonate. Dale or Mike told me their source on chat the other night, but one of the kids must have needed some paper... Anyway, I'm looking for 1/2" and thinner.

If a mod will clear it, post here even (rather than mail), but please wait until they answer as it might be a form of advertising. As Will Smith said in "Independance Day", "Don't start nothin, won't be nothin!" LOL

Thanks for any help, Jerry

Thanks John! Just didn't want to step on any toes for a change! Any help would be appreciated.I will check out the pricing/shipping charges myself and go from there. This is the first time I've ordered over the net, so I'm some what wary.I found three sites that I could use, but know there has got to be more than that (I hope).

And since I'm asking for help, any suggestions on what blends well together for box's also would help me.... I'm leaning towards maple for the sides and lid frame with a darker top (like Kevins fretwork box in the fall issue, but instead of fretwork, an inlay). I like walnut, but am wondering about purpleheart. Has anyone used a darker wood that they liked with maple? Any suggestions would be more than welome.

Thanks, Jerry

Thanks HD. That was one of the sites I found, and liked the selection. As I just posted, I've never ordered wood before off the net, and can't believe the few options that are available to me on search. Might be my wording on google.I have some time before I have to order, so I thought I would pick all ya'lls brains on where to buy.

thanks for the quick reply, I appreciate it!

Jerry

I thought I looked at that earlier Jannette and didn't see any 1/2" but I'm just a man ( that means I'm probably wrong ) And on a plus note I just figured out how to use the spell check by right clicking the mouse (sure miss the s.c. in the upper right corner...hehehe). Jerry

PS... I just checked out the site, beautiful wood, but with no bandsaw, I'm limited to buying dimensional cut lumber for the time being.Great site though! I book marked it for future ref. Thanks again!

Quality Lumber at Affordable Prices! Hardwood Lumber for all your woodworking needs! or Peterson's Custom Lumber were most likely the ones I mentioned. On Petersons, he doesnt specifically list the scrolling woods on his site, but they have a lot of it. Email or give them a jingle on the phone and tell them what your looking for and they most likely will have some handy, and their prices are good too.
