Default Where to buy wood in Janesville, Wisconsin?

A client asked me to assist with names of wood suppliers in her area - since I am a bit far away I thought I'd ask here if anyone can help?

She says: "Wondering if you have established vendors for solid wood sheets, (looking for oak, pine, maple, walnut, cherry, alder, etc. - would even consider some exotic woods.) Our local DIY centers and lumber yards have solid boards that are 1/4" thick but no more than 6" wide. Anything else is plywood and we don't want that."

That is where Wildwood Designs is located. Might try there.

As Rick said, Wildwood designs is right in Janesville WI. Another place not to awful far from Janesville, is a place called Badger Hardwoods, located in Walworth WI. Although I dont think they specifically stock scrolling ready woods, their prices are reasonable and they will plane wood to specs for a minimal charge. They are at www.badgerwood.comAnother good one even a little bit farther is Petersons Custom Lumber, in Burlington WI. They do carry scrollsaw ready woods. I am guessing Burlington to be about 45 minutes drive from Janesville roughly. Peterson's Custom Lumber or 1-888-796-9663 is their number . Mick Walker in here lives in Janesville so he may have a few more sources for you. I am about an hour west of Janesville. Sue, DO mention to her about the scrollsaw tradeshow coming up soon in Richland Center WI, shes sure to enjoy it. Which reminds me, if she dont mind mail ordering wood, Quality Lumber at Affordable Prices! Hardwood Lumber for all your woodworking needs! is a great place too!

Check out Woodfinder. Give them a location or ZIP code and they'll list local suppliers.

Sue Mey, I purchase most of my wood from Wildwood Designs because they are just a couple miles from me. They have mahogany, red oak, poplar, walnut, maple and cherry in 8", 10" and 12"widths, 24" lengths, surfaced on 2 sides, 1/4" thick. They have other thicknesses that go up to 8" widths. Another place I have had good luck with is Heritage Building Specialities Home Page - Hardwood Headquarters but I understand they are now under new management. They are located in Paynesville, MN.

Definitely Wildwood Designs. Last time I talked to them, they told me they were going to start having an area there where you could go in and shop your own boards. Badger in Walworth has alot of good wood as well, but no thin stuff.

Skeeter, I was just going by the address on their order blanks. I thought they were in Fergus Falls. Maybe the new owners have changed things.
