This is what i use next to my saw blowing away from me, along with a dust mask, and my delta air filtration system (see below for a link) attached to my ceiling above my saw area which is adjacent to my sanding station. Delta 50-875 540/730/1,200 CFM 3 Speed Air Filtration System

I don't think there is a problem with the scrollsaw dust as much as your other tools. Like the sander, especially, and your miter saw, table saw or router, if you have them. They are the real culprits, when it come to dust in the air & on the floor. Just use your judgement on what type of filter or dust collector you need. Good scrollin'. Perk

The problem with scroll saw dust is that this type of wood cutting produces a lot of very fine airborne dust. The saw dust that you can see on the floor isn't generally a problem, except for having to clean it up. It's the very small stuff that gets into your lungs and causes problems. It's best to use as much protection/collection/filtration that you can. Wish my shop had a much better system than what it does. Lee

I have the same grizzly band saw as you and I used a 3/16" blade to cut a couple of 3d deer out of 4" x 6' x 10" fir . I could not believe the amount of dust which settled on everything . Even with sticking a shop vac at the bottom left a fine layer . I would suggest you hook up a descent vac to that side the saw . I plan to find one . The scrollsaw is not as bad but again it generates dust as does sanding .. I use a dust mask and ear protectors when ever I run machinery . Your shop is far too tidy . Have fun . Roger |
