What a great idea Stoney. What blades did you use. It's a wonderful cutting and you are right about the antique look. Just have to go down to the local cabinet maker and ask for scrap laminate. They always have loads of small pieces left over. george

| George I use almost exclusively Flying Dutchman blades. One this project I used #5 FD-Scroll Reverse, and #3 FD-New Spiral blades.

Thanks to all for your comments. It feels good to give back a little something to this great group. I hope some of you that try laminate will post pictures. I love to see what others are cutting.

Laminate is a much harder material than most of the others we generally use for portraits, so naturally it is going to dull blades faster. I believe I used 2 each of #5 flat and #3 spiral. I would just make sure you put on packing tape and slow your speed down somewhat. The best thing to do is practice on some scrap to get the feel for the right speed and feed.

I would think it must have been hard to spend so much time and talent cutting such a detailed portrair and not really know what it was going to come out like. The anticipation must have been hard, but it sure looks like you were rewarded well. Connie

laminate. and me do not get along have allergy to it hospital time when I cut that however it sure looks nice good job |
