| awsome hindges Hi all. I met some new friends yesterday. and was so trilled to see all their great woodworking. wish I had pictures of all their work, but I have to say, I never seen hindges like these. or closers , they said they just got the boxs from michales, and then they do their woodburning, and painting on them, I just have to get me one of those cool woodburners. she did some tiny righting, I have ever seen. what talent for sure. but. what I have to get is the hindges, and closers for the box, she said you can get them a rocklers. they are so cool. the hindg, is like a dowl. and nothing shows exsept the little pin that moves. and the closer, is like a dowl too. but a magnet. hope you can see in my picturs, sorry kidda fuzzy.look at the tip of the triangale, that is the magnet. but you might get the idea. gosh I just have to get me some of these. too cool. your friend Evie.

| G'day Evie,
I've used that type of hinge, but not that small. They look really neat. I have a wooden pen box that my sister bought for me years ago and it has those small hinges on it.
The ones I used have a cantilever type system so that when they opened the lid/door was lifted so that the cnrs never bound. |

| G'day Evie,
Here's a pic of the various sizes.
The larger ones are just knock in and the knurls grip the timber to prevent them coming out and the smaller ones require epoxy glue.
If you notice the arms on the larger hinge, they lift the lid/door away from the box/carcase so that it doesn't bind.
The small hinges don't have this feature so you have to chamfer the cnrs so that there is enough room to allow the lid/door to open to 90o.
Clear as mud???? |
