Default Clock Inserts and Pen sets ??????????

G'day all,
I'm in a bit of a bind.
I have usually purchased clock inserts and desk set accessories from PRIMEX, but they suddenly tell me that I need a TAX No, or business etc.

Well I do have an ABN (Australian Business No) which sufficed for years, but suddenly it's not good enough

I received a very polite email from them stating that they would be happy to supply my order via Klockit, their retail outlet, however the prices are prohibitive.

So, the question is......
Where do you blokes come by these parts ???

Thanks for any input.

Getting them in Oz is bloody stupid, with the prices being almost double, which includes delivery.

I've Googled until my eyes have fallen out

Have found some reasonable places but none that have everything I want.

John as I understand it here,(in Florida anyway). If you have a sales tax number then you can buy at wholesale prices because you are using the materials for resale. Then when you sell the product you charge a sales tax on the sales price. Many of us here, (me), usually buy a clock kit etc for a gift so we are charged the sales tax as we are considered the ultimate or final user. I would think it works similarily in OZ. Do you charge a tax when you sell an item? If you do then it is possible this is the number they are looking for. I think your ABN is probably like our FEIN, (Federal Employer Identification Number). You have this number if you have incorporated or you have employees. If you are a sole proprietor with no employees then you would use your social security number. Your best bet is to talk with your CA or tax person to get the skinny.

So to answer your question, here if you don't have a sales tax number you pay full price and the sales tax on the item.

Have to agree with WD on Steebar, I have heard many horror stories on the IAP site about these people...

I just placed a big order with Cherry Tree. I found their prices as good as Klockit.
Sloans, apparently don't ship outside the US, they definitely don't ship to Canada.

I would talk to the "art factory" and see if they will hook you up with what you need or help point you in the direction of where they are getting their inventory. Look it up, the Boelman's are great people!

Hey John, I normally order my pen kits from pennstateind.com They're very good about getting things out and also tracking your order is very easy. Also if you have any problems with anything you buy from them they are very good about replacing it for free.Jerry
