Default What Hardwood Thicknesses do you buy the most of?

Hi All,
After seeing the rather exhorbitant prices folks are getting for thin hardwoods I'm toying with the idea of adding these to my site. It's still a couple of months off but I'd like to get an idea of what thicknesses people are purchasing their woods in. Wood would likely be S2S sanded to 150 or 180 Grit.

I usually buy 6/4 and mill my own. Get the most bang for the buck that way.

That's pretty much what I do as well Tom but a lot of folks don't have that capability.

Kevin,
I tried to modify the poll to allow multiple options but alas, I couldn't figure it out. .

Although most of my Hardwood has been free, scraps from local cabinet shops and carpenters rescuing wood from the dumpsters.
When I do buy Get rough sawn and do my own re-sawing and planing.

Keven I marked 1/4" but I use as much 1/2". I use to buy most of my wood on EBay. But it a hassle to have to sit there and try to out bid some else without over paying for it. And I have been guilty of overpaying a couple of times.

I've got an 18" planer, no band saw (I am afraid of them). But 6/4 rough swan is next to impossible to get here in Dallas. All we have are the big box stores. They don't carry it. And if you want to order it. It must be in 100bf amounts. Can't afford that or even have room to store it.

I buy the thicker wood. But I have a 18" and 14" bandsaws and a planer, we pay through the nose for wood here. My next major job is going out in the bush and bringing home some logs to play with.

Alan and Pete,
You might want to check Steve Wall Lumber and Niagara Lumber. At least you could price the stuff to see if it's worth it for you. IIRC, neither has a minimum order requirement. I guess I'm lucky in that I have 3 very good lumberyards to choose from locally to get virtually any kind of wood in any rough thickness I want. I didn't figure on offering 3/4" or thicker lumber as I had assumed at that thickness folks could just get it at a lumberyard.

I would prefer to own a bandsaw and resaw from 4/4 and thicker, but until then, thin woods as necessary.
