Thumbs up Flame Boxelder Source

For those of you that like Bold woods you might want to check out these sites. powdercreeksawmill.com - Welcome! and http://www.flameboxelder.com/ The second site isn't up and running yet but both are the same sawyer. I haven't been able to purchase any yet due to finances right now but wanted to let all of you know about the beautiful wood he has. The powder creek sawmill site has a gallery of some of the pieces that have been made.

There's sure to be quite a surplus of box elder with all those storms that blew through during the week. That won't make the price go down if you purchase it of course, but if you have a bandsaw you can mill you own. Look up the tree to help identify it. It is a type of maple tree and usually has two main leads, both main leads normally lean quite drastically to the east. The leads and the lean make them easy to identify from miles away, literally. You cut up the branches with the crotch sections and your sure to find lots of flames, and if not, you will at least have curls. Slice your wood so the crotch goes through the saw facing up. The more bug holes you find in the base of the tree, the better the quality of colors you will find inside throughout the entire tree.
