Question Have you ordered wood from these guys?

Has anyone here ordered wood from Mystic Hardwoods in NJ?

I haven't but Steve Good from the scroll saw blog has. He also advertises them. So I imagine they can't be bad as Steve would be cutting his nose off if they were. If I remember right he makes a comment about them on the blog.

Hi Thomas,
I ordered the web special of the Walnut and Cherry shorts. I didn't have any project in mind but I just wanted to build up my wood inventory. For $45 I got a big box of Cherry and Walnut. Nice quality -- I am very pleased with both the wood and the service I received.

I would recommend them.

Hope that helps.

Chris

I havent ordered from them, but if Stevie has had any problems, he wouldnt advertise for them.. If you are looking for walnut and cherry, Peterson's Custom Lumber has a special on some wide thin cherry and walnut.Dale

No, nothing in particular, someone was handing out their catalog at the scroll saw club the other night and I was looking at some of their offerings but before I would even considered giving them a shot I wanted to check here. Thanks.

Hi All,
Just went to the Mystic Hardwoods site and it looks like Desa, the owner, is closing it down.

Hope this isn't the case, as I was going to place another order.

If anyone can confirm or hopefully refute this, please keep this thread updated.

Cheers.
Chris

Default mystic hardwood

Hi Barefoot1, i don't have many details but Mystic Hardwoods has closed down their online site. I did try to give them a helping hand by advertising them on my blog. I did not take money for the ads because I knew they were just getting started and i wanted to help them out. I knew there was some risk it might not work out but I thought it was worth the chance. Looking back I'm afraid it was a mistake.

What a shame. I hate to see any small business close. I know what it takes to open a business and run it and when they go a lot of dreams go with them.

Hello everyone. Im a dirt farmer by trade but build musical instruments for sale in my spare time. I ordered wood from Mystic a month ago and got half my order. The other day I get a call from a company on the west coast telling me someone used my credit card fraudulently. They said the order originated from Oceanport NJ. They also asked if I knew someone named Desa Smith. I don't know exactly whats going on at this time. I filed a police report yesterday and now I see the company has closed down. If you ordered from Mystic please check your cc statements. I really liked this company and the folks who worked there, I hate to see it close... Bob.

Default No go??

I sent an email to them and got a return mailer daemon notice, so the web address is not valid any longer either. I called their phone number and got VM for 'Billy'. Bummer, their catalog looked promising but i guess I will recycle it now.
