Also look for Blue Mahoe and Blue Mango. Those two are really sweet! Those are my little blue flowers. What's easiest to find is Bukeye Burl. The little blue looking book on the bottom right of my last project is Buckeye Burl. All the blues I mentioned cut and shape real nice, nicer than pine. Not that the blue pine isn't nice also, just that pine has soft spots that sometimes allow the blade to take off in a direction you don't expect. A Buckeye Burl Blue Heron would be sweet indeed! Not only would the color be perfect, but the swirly grain is a great effect. Blue Mahoe smells great!

I hope it's OK to say this, but I love Ocooch. That guy will go out to the yard and hunt through his woodpile to find the exact color I want. I have had wonderful customer service from them, and they deliver really fast. I order from them about every other week now.

The website "thehandsomwoodman" advertises that he has the wood your looking for. I have never ordered through him but I'm about to.

Less dramatic than the buckeye burl that Jeff mentioned, spalted buckeye would also look good for a heron.

What kind of heron are you doing, Rolf? A blue heron? We've got quite a lot of those around NS. They're awesome looking birds.

I am doing the great Blue Heron, that is the most prevalent here.
Thanks for all of your suggestions.

Well I am back from a wonderful vacation and ready to get back to wood working. I had sent OOch an e-mail before I left and never got a response (although my spam filter could have got it) I sent another e-mail today.

THE HANDSOME WOODMAN will get you there. At least it will on my pc. I have never order from them but I won two slabs of lumber as honorable mention in the Best Project Design Contest. Good wood. I am cutting a dragon on one of them right now.
