Talking Great day shopping!

A local craft shop was having an inventory reduction sale this weekend so we decided to swing by and see what they had. They don't have much of anything that relates to scrolling so my wife did pretty good. I did find some yellow hot glue sticks they had advertised as for wood use. Since they don't sell anything related to woodworking the glue has been sitting there for a few years now (at least since the store was last bought) so they were marked at 20 for $1. Not only that, but the entire ailse was marked down 90% off so they told me I could have the entire box for $1! I ended up with 186 glue sticks!! I don't normally use hot glue guns/sticks, but I've been wanting to try it out for stack cutting for a while. If it works I guess I'm set for years to come.

After we left that store my wife wanted to swing by Michael's for a couple things they have on sale. We picked up 1" foam brushes at 15 for $1 and several nice frames for $5 each. I don't need any frames right now, but for that price I couldn't pass them up. Maybe you can check out your local Michael's to see if they have frames on sale like that also. It was definitely worth the drive.

Now it's time to get back to making sawdust.

Was at Micheals yesterday and did the same thing. They had matted 10x13 on sale for $5 each and a set of 2-8x10s with an added 11x14 frame for $4. Needless to say I won't be needing to buy frames for quite some time as I stocked up!

My mistake was taking my Artist wife with me as they also had canvases on sale. (2-20x24 for $5) along with paints and brushes being on sale. After she saw my cart full of frames she said "Well, I guess I better stock up too!" She then commenced to load her cart to the brim also. LOL Long story being made short my wallet wound up being quite a bit lighter by the time I got outta there. Next time I read the Micheals flyer you can bet I sneak there by meself.

You're going to like stack cutting with hot glued edges. Painters tape is great if you want to see the edge, but it gets expensive after a while.

Forgot to mention this part of my tale too. The day before (Saturday) I had made a venture to my hard wood supplier and had dropped close to $200. The wife did manage to comment on that on the trip home from Michael's as I was bemoaning the price I paid for taking her shopping with me. Something to the effect that I have no compuntion to spending my money on the things I want. Another lesson learned, don't tell her how much wood I buy at a time!

Today my mitre saw took a dump on me and needs replaced so don't ya know I was already out pricing them and AGAIN my whining about how much she spent at Michael's came up when I told her I was shopping for one. Trust me--she won't know the price of the saw I am thinking about getting! Kind of like the Dewalt compound saw I saw for the low low price of $499.

Jim8Mad I use hot glue for stack cutting edges all the time.....you just need a few dots here and there on each side......works great.
