Default Offcut Pack

Just got my 20lb. box of offcuts from Rockler...order this! Make sure you aske for the mixed species. The box I got had a pretty good supply of beautiful walnut (1/2" and smaller), a thick piece of clean cherry, a 2" thick chunk of hard maple, some of what I believe is alder, but I've never seen better alder, some poplar with a beautiful green patch, some thin hard maple, and other mixed species. Somebody is going to get a 1/4" oak ornament from me from this box and a compound ornament from the 2x2 walnut offcut.

Nothing 1/8", but everything is in great shape and very workable. I'll see if I can lay it out and get a picture soon. I also ordered a 3/4" piece of ash from them...also a good piece.

I think Woodcraft still sells boxes real similar. A couple years ago they sold hundreds of those boxes of wood at the woodworking show in Milwaukee. I didnt buy one, and cant recall the price either. Congrats on a fun purchase. Dale

Very likely they do. I know Rockler sells exotic hardwoods, cut by the lineal inch, and they have to do something with the small leftover bits. Veneer places use Marquetry packs to get something for the damaged and leftover leaves they end up with (and I get a few hundred dollars worth of veneer, purchased individually, for $35, plus shipping/handling). I would expect Woodcraft to do the same thing.
