Harry,
I get mine from a local (small) lumber yard. They will order it for me and usually get it in a few days.

To expand on what Tom said, every lumber dealer has access to it through their distributors. Question is, whether they'll go to the trouble of ordering it for you. The big chains won't, or really can't, as they have eliminated distributors from their chain of supply and buy directly from manufacturers. This is why it's best to go through a local business.

I think one of the best things any woodworker can do is find at least one or two good local sources for wood. These kind of places often aren't the most heavily advertised or promoted. They are often small, independently owned businesses and advertise via word of mouth. They may be a little off the beaten path. I realize that this isn't a viable solution for everyone, but it's certainly worth some effort to see what you can find. The prices are generally better and if you establish a relationship with the business, they will often let you pick your own boards. The good ones will carry a complete line of domestic and exotic woods as well as sheet goods.
