| The "knees from the trees." I know what "cypress tree knees" are from chatting with Diane Thompson.
The "knees" comes from the connections of the trees branches.

| Cypress knees are actually part of the roots of a cypress tree that protrude above the water line. They come from the "bald cypress" which grows in swamps down south. I once had one that was 45" tall and 10" at the base. Many woodcarvers like them for carving wood sprites.

| Cypress Neal,
Thanks.
I'm sure your right about where the cypress knees come from, its a southern thing.
I do remember Diane telling me that she was going to pick some up, maybe she used the "knees" for her 3D pieces.
I don't know if Diane carved, but she sure is talented.
