Default Canadian suppliers

Hi all
Just wondering if any of my fellow Canadian sawdust makers could recommend a Canadian supplier for all kinds of wood that we normally use in our Scrollsawing. I just want to compar prices and delivery costs.

I'm in the south-west part of Nova-Scotia.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

John

Not sure what you're looking for exactly, John. If you're wanting 1/8th Baltic birch for portrait type work, I haven't found any yet within NS. I've got the last couple of lots from Workshop Supply in Embro, ON. They are quick to ship and prices and shipping seem OK. http://www.workshopsupply.com/

www.kidder.ca (also in ON) also do Baltic birch and their service has been good too, but they are slightlty more expensive.

As far as buying hardwoods go I buy from Halifax Specialty Hardwoods in Halifax and occasionally from Atlantic Specialty Hardwoods in Dartmouth. The first one is a little cheaper, and they're very nice folks that run it. As far as I know though they don't do mail order and neither have a website. I have a price list for Halifax Hardwoods and contact numbers for either of them, if you'd like to see ... and if you are ever looking for anything in particular, let me know and I'll see if I can help.

Many thanks Moose for the info.

I've been turning out a whole mess of ginger-bread trim and it's kept me pretty busy since this winter. But it's coming to an end and I'm almost finished. Looking forward to doing a few short, fun things.

I'm going fishing with the family this summer and think I'll make a bunch of fishing type trophies and it will take diff. kinds of wood, thus my request for Canadian suppliers. I was just up to halifax last week-end but missed reading your reply before I left. But, will be returning some time in the summer and will take advantage of your info. Again many thanks.

John
