| New scroller from NYC Hello!
I am relatively new to scrolling although I've done many larger woodworking projects in the past (bookshelves, cabinets, and bed frame). Last year, I took my first stab at intarsia using a palette of exotic woods, a borrowed Delta SS350LS, and a pattern of my own design.
Just before Christmas, I bought myself a DeWalt DW788 and set it up in my father's shop. It's kind of difficult to house a scrollsaw in an 1BR apartment, so I go to my parents' house on weekends to do most of my work. My dad has been scrolling for about 20 years, and I'm sure that he will appreciate the difference between the 20 inch DeWalt and his 15 year old 16 inch Craftsman!
I'm interested in intarsia and would like to try fretwork. I'm looking forward to picking up tips and ideas here!
I've attached pics of my very first intarsia project - a fish, snail, and plant that I made for my custom-built 15 gallon aquarium stand. |

| Thanks!
I was happy with how the fish came out - especially considering it was my first attempt at intarsia. There are a few pieces that just didn't want to fit together despite two recuts and lots of careful sanding. I learned alot making that fish!
Rolf, my parents are in Levittown (just south of Hicksville) and I am in Kew Gardens, Queens. My buddy from whom I borrowed the Delta saw is a woodturning member of the LIWC. I'll try to get out of work early to make one of the meetings.
