Smile New scroller from Utah

Hello to all. I have been doing woodworking of one type or another for at least 40 years and remember doing a little bit of scrolling in Jr. High, but I am basicly new to scrolling now. I find it very interesting and satisfying and I am looking forward to learing more about it. With the help and suggestions of all of you that have been doing it for awhile will really help me as I try to find the style that I will enjoy most. I am a real "tool junkie" so I am studing the different models of scroll saws to determine the one that will best satisfy my needs. I look forward to hearing and learing from ya'all.

Bill

Welcome, Bill. You're from one of my favourite US states - great National Parks you have down there.

Really great Parks, I am planning to spend next spring and early summer checking them out in southern Utah. Spending the winter getting in shape to do so.

Don't miss Bryce Canyon, Chuck! I think that is one of the most awesome places I've seen anywhere in the world - the way the colours change on those rocks at different times of the day is fantastic. Very hot hiking there in August though!!

There are some great State parks there too - we camped overnight at Goblin Valley on the drive down to southern Utah fron SLC, and went hiking the next day up one slot canyon and round and back down another - about 8 miles. In 5 hours we didn't see anyone until we were a couple of hundred yards away from the finish.

There's a couple of pics below of Goblin Valley - the scale on the "field of rocks" can be seen by the figure in the botom left. The second 2 are Bryce but photos don't do it justice..

Oh apologies to Bill for hijacking your thread!!!

That's all right Ian and Chuck, I love this state too. Ian, those are great photos. I have not been to southern Utah very much myself, but Bryce Canyon is amazing and you do have to see it at different times of the day because the colors do change. The first time I saw it I was about 9 years old and it was just before sunset and it is a memory that is still with me. I also like Zion's canyon as well.

I just thought I would show some of the projects I have done the last two weeks. The rocking horses are for my grandson and my sisiter's granddaughter. My sister is going to paint them for us. She has a real tallent for tole painting.
