New member, but I have stopped by this way in the past. I own a Delta Q3 that I picked up a few years back from a middle school shop. I had to refurbish it, not from use but from lack of use. I have wanted to get back into scroll sawing mostly to share the experience with my grandson who is 12. Electronic games are OK for idle time, but the user doesn't learn anything ( just my opinion). Hope to gain some knowledge from you folks that are far better at this craft that I'll ever be. |

Welcome to our site. I love my Q3 and have used it for over 10 years now. It is a great saw for thick wood and aggressive cutting but at slower speeds does just fine for delicate work. It's only drawback is that since it is a bottom feed design, with interior frets you are limited to a piece of wood about 6 x 6" especially with the finer blades. george

Hi T2biszee, Welcome to the forum. Glad to hear you want to get your grandson interested in something besides Electronic games. I don't believe there is a better tool you could introduce him to workworking with than a scroll saw. They are safe and easy to use. I would advise starting him on some simple projects to build his confidence. You will be amazed at how fast he will progress. I started my grandson about 2 years ago and he is getting quite proficient on a scroll saw. Some of my favorite memories are those spent in the workshop with him. Well have fun and post some pictures. We love pictures.
