Smile New From Florida!

Hello Everyone!

Several years ago I happened onto this site and was amazed at the wonderful work that could be done with a scrollsaw. At the time, I didn't have one and really couldn't afford to buy one. This past Monday I got a gently used huge Dewalt scrollsaw at an estate sale for next to nothing! I also got a pattern enlarger and a couple of other gadgets with it. How can you not love that? So, here I am! I live in Florida with a wonderful man, two dogs, three cats and 21 chickens. I am an assisted living facility administrator and love my work which keeps my busy. I look forward to starting my first project and learning a lot from this forum!

shesell:

Welcome, Sheila. As you are already somewhat familiar with this site, no doubt you know that there is a great amount of help here, just for the asking.

I have found that when I obtain a new piece of equipment for a specific job, I often find more to accomplish with that equipment than what I had originally imagined. I am sure this will be the case with you too.

I fondly remember that many years ago when I bought a fax machine, I expected to get important documents in a timely fashion and to also deliver them the same way.

I had done some failure consulting for an insurance adjuster but was not getting paid.

I faxed my request for payment noting how long it had been since I had done the work. I got an immediate payment! I later learned that the fax came into a pool so everyone in the office knew that this person was tardy. It did not improve my standing with that adjuster, but if they did not pay for the work done, what did I have to loose?

As an administrator, I expect that the relaxing time you spend on your scroll saw will be like therapy so you have more to look forward to than just the scroll work.

Have a good one.

Welcome Sheila, I think that is great that you came across that DeWalt scrollsaw so timely. (before anyone else) Hope you have good luck with it & enjoy every moment with it. I found, that after I had mine for a while, it got dust in the switch & would not turn on sometimes. I cleaned it out & bought a foot control switch, so I could just leave it turned on all the time. I also taped over the switch to keep it clean. Just something for you to remember if a problem comes up. I hope it doesn't. Have a good time with your new toy. Perk
