Hello I'm an Electrician. I have been scrolling with the scroll saw for about a year and half. I fell off a ladder about 2 years ago and broke my back. So I have been on restriction's at work. So I thought I would give the scroll saw a try and I really do like the hobby. I have made a lot of things. Mostly word art. Thanks David |

Welcome David! I'm glad to read that you are recovering from your terrible accident. I'm sure you'll read here somewhere that raising the back of your saw about the thickness of a 4X4 (tilting it toward you) will greatly reduce the stress on your back. I love scrolling, but it can be hard on the back unless you achieve the proper posture. We'd love to see some of your work if you have the capability of sharing. I hope you like it here as much as I do. There are so many good people here...good in so many ways. Do a lot of poking around and ask as many questions as necessary and above all, enjoy! BubbaNTenn

spark1051: Welcome to a great site. Sorry to learn about your injury, never good what ever it might be. I have had back problems ongoing for many years but exercise has been a great help. When I bought my scroll saw, I was advised to raise the rear of the saw as well. I was told to go for 23º tilt and I did. I find it quite comfortable and not stressful to my back. Also, I do my scrolling sitting and I think that helps too. You will find lots of great information on this site, lots of help and kind replies. So again, welcome. Woodie |
