Just wanted to say hello to the group. I am a retired construction trades teacher (high school and jr. college) from the central part of Texas, and am an avid woodworker. I've had my DW scrollsaw for 6 years now and do most of my scrolling around Christmas time. I,ve done a lot of bandsaw work in the past. I am primarily interested in boxes and clocks but still make an occasional cabinet or piece of furniture when someone (usually wife or one of the kids) talks me into it. I enjoy this scroll saw community and am looking forward in communicating with and learning from all of you folks. David McCarver (cathammer) |

Welcome David, Glad you found us. As I'm sure you have seen there are a lot of great people here. I to do a lot of different woodworking, or use to anyways before becoming disabled. Now I mainly do scroll work as it allows me to be more comfortable and not much heavy lifting. I also do a lot of cutting during the holidays, as I do a lot of portriats and fretwork pieces. I also do a lot of things for different non-profit groups to use as fundrasiers. Like now when I get the new saw, I'm doing a bunch of ornaments that a local scout troop asked me to do and they are going to take and give them to seniors at area rest homes around Christmas time. I've done right at 500 so far and only have 600 more to do. Finally broke down and got me the Excalibur EX-30. When I joined here I knew a lot about woodworking....well....I thought I did. I've learnt so much just from the people here as I'm sure you will also as well as be able to share your knowledge to us. We also like to see pictures of your works, it motivates us. Anyways, I could go on and on, but I won't, I'll end this with this, WELCOME AND JUMP RIGHT IN AND HAVE FUN!!!! If you have any questions feel free to ask, as that's why we're here.
