I'd Like to start off by saying this is a fantastic site. I've been laying in the back ground for some time now and have gotten some great ideas for my so called art. I was given a cheap scroll saw but have never used it. In my art I use some of the same design as scrollers use but in a different form. As my name suggests my art is carving egg shells. I'll try to attach a couple of the eggs that 've done. Fred |

Fred, the eggs are unbelievable!! The art is amazing. You're one talented artist and a unique one at that. I really look forward to seeing some more of your egg cuttings. David

Welcome to the site Fred.......your work is truly outstanding. Thanks for posting those pictures. What tool do you use to cut into that delicate medium?

Fred, that's awesome! You really should post that in the bragging section as many people won't have the fortune to come across them here. How the heck do you get the shells hard enough to cut them without breaking? And do you even use a scrollsaw (where would the back of the blade come out, and how would you rotate the egg as you sawed?) I imagine you must be using a small hand tool for these, yes? No? ![]() If you truly use a scrollsaw in some way to make your eggs, then I would say that your work is unique and beautiful enough that I hope the publishers invite you to contribute to an upcoming SSW&C magazine issue. It's too nice not to share. Wonderful work! |

Okay, Fred, I was so distracted by the beauty of those eggs, I didn't really read your post well. It sounds like you don't use a scrollsaw but do these by hand. Could you share how you make them? Last edited by Scrolling Days; 07-06-2009 at 03:15 AM. |

International Egg Art Guild I think I saw one of these at a Renaissance Festival some years back, but I think it was done with ostrich and emu eggs. Really fascinating stuff! Fred, is the tool you use like a dremel? I'm thinking of a tool similar to a dentist drill, I guess. | |
