Hi everyone!. It's good to be with others who enjoy this wonderful craft. I live in Norfolk Va. and had been a trim carpenter for 30 years. Due to health issues I became disabled in 2003 and have been trying to get back to scroll sawing. I have an old 15 inch Delta single speed. I have a question. Because of arthritis I have trouble changing blades with the old allen wrench set up that came with my saw. Is there any retrofit packages for this size saw? Any help will be deeply appreciated. I am on a very limited budget (hey who isn't) Thank you in advance and I look forward to hearing from you and seeing your work. What a great community to have where we share and learn and have a good time doing something we love. Thanks!!!! Charlie Wilson

Hey there Mike. Thanks for the warm welcome. I will post some pictures when my "tech support" ( my 18 year old daughter) helps me LOL

Oh believe me I understand the need for tech support and it usually is our kids or grand kids that keep us out of techy trouble. LOL It really is pretty simple to add photos to your posts though. Looking forward to seeing yours soon.

I would also like to welcome you to our little family of Scrollers. I dont know all that much about the saw you have so I can be of much help there, but I'm sure some other member will be able to. I'm glad to know there is another member in my neck of the woods, I'm in Hampton. Hope to see some of your projects pictures posted on the forum. This is a great place to ask question and exchange idea, there is no such thing as a dumb question hrere. Glad to have you here.

Thanks Dan for the warm welcome. Thank you so much for your service to our great country. My sister-in-law is a colonel in the Army and has had 2 tours of duty in Iraq. She is currently at the war college in Penn. and is headed back to the Pentagon this summer. What a great country we have and thanks to people like you and my sister-in-law who keep us free. And yes I am the greatest scroller in my house

1st, Welcome. Amazon sells a Quick-Set II (Delta part 40-251) that should retro fit to the upper arm. No promises, on that 'should fit'. Amazon dot com link to delta scroll saw Quick Set II As I recall, there is a lack of extra space under the table for the retro fit to function correctly on the lower arm. There is a trick to installing the new blade chuck, if you are mechanically inclined it shouldn't be a problem. Just be sure you don't in any way apply any sideways forces to the upper arm which could cause it to bend out of alignment with lower arm. All pressure / force needs to be applied to roll pin itself. (makes sense when you look at parts in kit.) Phil PS: There are other vendors that sell the blade chuck. Check for pricing. Amazon just has best graphic of package. Welcome Charlie, glad you found this site. With 30 years of woodworking under your belt I'm sure you have lots of stuff to share with us. Eager to see some of your project photos. As far as keeping company with "Arthur Itis"......yea he/she is no fun. For my Makita saw I had to use a allen wrench too, so I made a handle for it out of a dowel, and for my Dewalt I just made a knob for it. I'm sure you can come up with a better design, but here are my attempts. They help a lot. Come by often, cause we just love new members. Check out the vault if you need some patterns, and the Scroll Saw Woodworking and Crafts magazine is none better.
